Southbound 400 is a three-day, 400-mile ultra relay from the border of Canada to the southernmost tip of Manhattan via the Empire State Trail.

Each team is composed of 8 athletes including a minimum of 2 self-identifying females. Each team must be accompanied by 2 crew (maximum of 4) for a total up to 12 members per team.

Teams run continuously, with one athlete on the course at all times. Each evening, teams regroup at campgrounds to rest and connect. The race concludes on Day 3 with a celebratory finish in Manhattan.

*To meet cut off times, teams must be able to maintain 8:30/MI pace collectively over three stages.
